RideTech Bolt-On Wishbone Rear Suspension System - 1988-1998 Chevy/GMC C1500

Ridetech's Bolt-On Wishbone system is one of the smartest rear suspension upgrades available for the OBS platform, replacing your factory leaf spring setup with a proper three-link-style wishbone design that locates the rearend precisely without the wheel hop, axle wrap, and squat that leaf springs are famous for.

Leaf springs do double duty as both your spring and your locating device for the rearend, which is a compromise GM made for cost and simplicity back in the day - not for performance. That compromise is exactly why hard launches cause wheel hop, why braking causes squat, and why the rear end can walk around under load. Ridetech's wishbone system separates those jobs: the wishbone precisely locates the axle in three dimensions while a coilover (sold separately, and required - see our matching Rear Coilover listing) handles the springing and damping. The result is a rear end that stays planted, tracks straight, and doesn't fight you under acceleration or braking.

This is a true bolt-on system - no need to notch your frame or do any wishbone-specific fabrication for the basic installation, which is a huge deal considering the performance gain you're getting. You do need to select the correct model for your differential: the Standard version is built around the common 10-bolt differential, while the 454 SS version is engineered for the beefier 14-bolt differential found under the SS/454 trucks. Get this wrong and the mounting geometry won't line up, so double check your differential before ordering.

Once installed, this system transforms how your OBS truck rides and handles - it's the difference between a truck that squats and hops under hard use and one that hooks up and tracks true.
