Remanufactured steering gear box built by Red-Head Steering Gears (Auburn, WA) to OEM specifications, backed by a full 12-month/unlimited-mileage warranty. Fits 1980-1991 Chevrolet or GMC Pickup Trucks, K5 Blazer's, Suburban's or Jimmy's.
Threaded Output: This steering gear has a threaded output shaft, which indirectly turns the tires — a nut and washer is used to connect it to the pitman arm. If your steering gear output shaft has a notch instead (a pinch bolt holds your pitman arm to the steering gear), you need our pinch-bolt version, SKU 2858. A 4-Turn ratio (better for off-roading or larger-than-stock tires) is also available under SKU 2856-4T.
Specifications:
Weight: 29 lb(s)
Ratio: 15:1 / 3 Turns
Input: Small Input (3/4"), 25 Splines
Output: 4 Master Spline w/32 Spline
Fittings: O-Ring
Options available: Add 2 additional power steering ports (4 total) for an aftermarket hydraulic RAM-assist steering setup (+$110), or a new nut and washer for the pitman arm (+$21).
Core Charge: This price includes a $225 refundable core deposit. Drain your old core of fluid, replace the port plugs, and return it to us within 60 days of purchase for a full $225 refund (cores returned 61 days–1 year are refunded at 50%; no refund after 1 year).
