Let's be honest — that flimsy plastic oil cap sitting on top of your LS-swapped OBS truck has been living on borrowed time since the day it left the factory. GM used plastic oil filler caps on just about every Vortec and LS engine that ever rolled off the line, and after a few hot summers or a couple thousand miles of engine bay heat soak, that plastic gets brittle, fades to a chalky gray, and eventually cracks right where the tabs snap into the fill neck. If you've already replaced yours once (or twice), you already know the drill.
We got tired of watching good OBS trucks get let down by a two-dollar plastic part, so we machined this oil filler cap from a solid billet of T6-6061 aluminum right here in the USA. No plastic, no fade, no cracking, and — this is the big one if you're running a turbo or headers up close to the fill neck — no melting. Aluminum dissipates heat a whole lot faster than plastic ever will, so this cap shrugs off engine bay heat that would turn a stock cap into a puddle.
This cap is a direct, no-drama replacement for the factory oil fill cap on any LS-family engine with a single-notch filler neck, which covers the vast majority of Gen III/IV LS engines swapped into OBS trucks, as well as the factory Vortec 5.7L and 4.3L engines that came in these trucks from the factory. Whether you kept your OBS running the small block it left the factory with, or you dropped in an LS as part of a full engine swap, this cap bolts on exactly like the factory piece — twist it on, lock the tabs, done. No tools, no modification, no fuss.
Every cap ships with a brand new O-ring already installed, so you're not stuck digging through a parts bin trying to find the right seal. We CNC machine every cap to a tight tolerance so it seats and locks exactly like it should, with none of the wobble or loose fitment you get from cheap stamped or cast knockoffs.
Pick your finish: a raw machined look that shows off the tool marks and gives your engine bay that clean, industrial billet look, or a black anodized finish if you're going for a more blacked-out, stealth engine bay theme. Either way, this is a part you install once and never think about again — until someone pops your hood and asks where you got it.
A couple of honest notes before you buy: this cap is built for single-notch oil fill necks, which covers the overwhelming majority of LS and Vortec applications, but double-check your fill neck style before ordering if you're not sure. And yes, the aluminum will get hot if it's sitting right next to a turbo or header — that's physics, not a flaw. Let your engine cool for a minute before you go grabbing at anything under the hood, billet cap or otherwise.
Fitment: Universal fit for GM LS-family engines (LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LQ4, LQ9, and more) and Vortec 5.7L/4.3L engines with a single-notch oil filler neck — a direct bolt-on upgrade for 1988-1999 Chevy/GMC OBS trucks running either the factory small block or an LS swap.
