Belltech 2WD Rear Frame C-Notch - 1990-1999 Chevy/GMC C2500

Once you've dropped the rear of your C2500 deep enough that the axle or leaf spring pack is contacting the frame at full compression, a C-notch is the answer - and this Belltech notch is engineered specifically for the 2WD C2500 frame rail, not a generic notch that may not match your frame's exact dimensions and reinforcement needs.

The C-notch process removes a section of the frame rail, shaped like a C, to provide additional clearance for the axle housing or leaf spring pack at full suspension compression, and replaces it with a reinforced, correctly shaped notch section that restores frame strength while providing the clearance your aggressive drop requires.

Because the C2500 platform runs a heavier frame and axle housing than a C1500, this notch is sized and reinforced specifically for that difference - using a light-duty notch on a heavy-duty frame can leave you with inadequate clearance or a weaker repair than the application demands. This is a welded installation, not a bolt-on part, and requires proper welding equipment and experience, or professional installation at a shop comfortable with structural frame modifications.

This is typically paired with a rear axle flip kit as part of a complete aggressive rear drop build - the flip kit gets you most of your drop, and the C-notch provides the remaining clearance needed to avoid contact at full compression. Skipping the notch when your drop requires it risks frame damage or a dangerously limited range of suspension travel.
